sure. no money in it though. good money in romance novels if you can make a name for yourself, but professionally there is nothing more competitive than writing romance novels.

so writing erotica is a good way to satisfy a desire to write (and be read)
but it's more hobby than job, and is usually just for fun.

so go for it, you'll get all the positives of a published author except for name recognition and money. people can enjoy your work and you can have fun writing.
