Dr Robert shut it down, he said it had drifted too far from what he originally intended it to be.
He started it on Bravenet (then moved to Eels' hosting) when he became unable to reply to all the questions he got via email; it was supposed to be a place where people could ask and answer questions, instead the same few regulars just bickered and argued. So he closed it.
His (rather mad) departing message:

Oh yeah, the Bravenet forum software had a massive security hole where anybody could edit any message by putting the post number they wanted to edit into the post edit URL.

actually he missed out on a great opportunity to observe and communicate with vicious internet trolls and didn't use the opportunity to understand them, study their nature and draw conclusions as to their psychological state and all that.
