can't say i've ever had it. German cuisine in germany was excellent, as well as the food in switzerland.
I was there in the spring, and the asparagus soup, omg, it was so fucking good. never been able to replicate it or find anything like it over here.
i will go back, just to have the soup again

Lots of British people believe that, because they've never eaten anywhere good (i.e. they eat at the local chippy).
It's like saying American food is bad, but eating mostly at McDonalds or KFC.

but i don't know as an american what american food is
we don't have historical definitively american dishes
britain does but historically they're nothing special or tasty. the state of british cuisine today is something else however as with american cuisine but what we see here is fusion dishes and modern globalized cuisine that i would be afraid to call 'american'

You bet 100% dollars? Well I'm not sure what you're getting at but I like to think I know a few things... I've always cooked for myself and my family, I worked in a restaurant on the Costa Del Sol for a year before I moved into finance and I have several chef friends one of whom has a restaurant in Dublin, his second restaurant, the first being in Malaga. Food has always been a keen hobby of mine.

English things like Toad in the Hole, Yorkshire pudding, Cumberland pie and bubble & squeak are all grate. Also Welsh rarebit. Scotland has disgusting stuff like black pudding and haggis.
I'm sure America has things similar to these. Might not be amazing - we're no France - but made right they can be very good.

British game cuisine can be amazing - rabbit, venison and pheasant. We're also a maritime country which means the sea food is outstanding. We have some of the best oyster and shellfish in the world. I remember one thread here some years ago where Ash talked about taking a trip to the US just to eat lobster from a common lobster chain restaurant, I thought how odd when we have some amazing lobster in the UK (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homarus_gammarus) don't get me wrong the US and in particular Maine has the worlds best lobster but this kid was going to spend 100s of dollars to eat average lobster.
Also on the subjest of meats we have easy access to Welsh lamb and Scottish Angus beef!

this was all just a test like wesley's entrance exam to the academy when some dude was being rude to him he was expected to react harshly because that species tends to respect aggressive action
