BEAUMONT - Beaumont police were called to Eastex Freeway near Highway 105 Saturday morning by people complaining about a man in a banana suit holding an AK-47.
Derek Poe, owner of Golden Triangle Tactical, told 12News Saturday that it was part of the store's grand opening after moving locations from Parkdale Mall. Poe said the man in the banana suit was holding an AK-47 across his back with the barrel pointing down and holding a sign with an arrow pointing toward the store. He said this idea was to attract customers to the store.

Actually I added "confronted" to the headline, (they actually use "cited") for all the reasons you just mentioned. He wasn't arrested because he was just standing around a highway in Texas with an AK-47 dressed in a banana suit. There's nothing wrong with that. Because that's all good.

It is actually in Arizona. Which is not, for cultural and political reasons, what most people would consider "the south" (which in common parlance usually means the former Confederate States of America) but if you look at a map of the US it's clear that Arizona is, in fact, on the southern edge of the continental US.

tennesse was strongly southern during the civil war, whilst arizona never truely gave a fuck because it was a part of spain at the time.
because the war was primarily fought in the east, the eastern half of the US is divided along this alignment, whereas the western is just based on climate
