It seems to be the new 'gay', a buzzword that's thrown around as a means to deflate the recipients ego. But does anyone know what autism is? Is it an obsessive fondness of Sonic and thinking in colors?

An umbrella term now devoid of meaning thanks to rampant overdiagnosis, given overdue focus for the 1 in 100 of its sufferers that actually have Cohen's phenotype, the other 99 in 100 being the result of a mother gone awry, petrochemicals, vaccine encephalitis, and a more compassionate diagnosis in place of retardation or sociopathy, and on occasion, childhood disintegrative schizophrenia.

it's the new ADD. Everyone has it. I remember when everyone had ADD, and the reason wasn't even behavior, it was so parents could get their children additional free assistance at school to give them as much of an easy start as possible. Lax homework, unproctored testing, cheat sheets, drop grades. All of it available with a simple trip to a psychologist. Best part is you only need to go once. Once you get the diagnosis you don't ever need a doctor again. get it at 8, cool, no need to ever have to "prove" it again ever in the next 14 years. Even at university.ADD was not something that required any persistence of care, so everyone could get it and keep it. unless you want the stims, those rocked, and doctors handed it out like PEZ. but i digress. ADD isn't a competitive edge anymore. Everyone has it and anyone can get the meds and dose up like surgical resident. now everyone can substitute their final grade with a creative arts shoebox diorama. Where's the new edge?

Your argument would hold if the performance boost to autism was more concessions and drugs. The drugs for autism actually suck, usually tranquilizer sedatives formerly used on schizophrenics.
For those of the actual Cohen phenotype, we're talking 1 in 100 autistics here, I agree with you on the others, merely retards peddled through the sped system who'd never make it to University anyway, the performance boost is genetic but mixed. On the one hand you have raised localized processing, pattern-forming and concrete reasoning abilities yielding a literal 'Greek brain.' But that has no edge in such a highly feminized society where the only jobs available to such individual typically hold no interest to such people (cognitive masculinity =/= socio-emotional masculinity, universally at least. Testosterone can fuck up the latter the other way), while the vast majority of lumpenprole and neo-prole effetes dominate and monopolize on the more interesting sectors. This split between cognitive aptitude and interest is common in genuine autism/Aspergers, which may be the main reason for the high unemployment rate. Add in the psychotropic drugs typically used for treatment, institutionalized misandry hidden behind science making everyone invectively suspicious of autists, and the residue of old 'idiot savant' cultural stereotypes that stick like fly-paper, and you can no longer deny that autism is indeed no advantage unless you're content with being a lazy, oblivious shit with no prospects.

no i'm saying that ADD and autism are similar in that normies are misdiagnosed as to gain the educational assistance. Autistic kids get to take different tests and have access to much more assistance. That's great for them, but even better for the normies who can cover the materials much easier with a diagnosis of learning disabilities.
all of the misdiagnosed kids with "autism" were first diagnosed due to problems at school. just like with ADD when it was the buzz-word-catch-all-miracle-cure-diagnosis that every parent with unmotivated students seek out to make their lives easier.

I'd happily see the diagnosis dropped altogether. It seems they would do better in the past without intervention anyway, without being given unrealistic expectations of achievement.
