Yes. This was back in the early days, when Devon was trying to invade and kill everybody in Cornwall so that they could say that they invented the pasty first. The elders decided to construct a wall to slow Devon's progress. But due to a rounding error, Cornwall had not produced any real building materials that year, and had instead produced a massive amount of excess Corn. So that was used instead. And it successfully stalled the Devoners long enough for Cornwall to fire up the master-tractor and slowly run over Devon's forces, saving the pasty once again.
Whether or not they were, at the time, having a giggle is very much debated by historians.

Is the great Wall of Corn still around or has is been mostly nibbled down?

Nope, all gone. Got torn down. It was never meant as a permanent fortification, it was merely meant to stall the Devon invaders long enough so that the master-tractor could be awoken with the required blood sacrifices.

This is actually a very revisionist view of history. It is a well-known fact Devon invented the pasty, after which it was stolen by Cornwall in a long, bitter war which was the culmination of multiple excursions into Devon by the Cornish, who repeatedly stole Devon's corn, smuggling it back through tunnels created under the guise of "tin mining". An embattled Devon made one final attempt to retake the pasty, but were met with a giant wall of stolen corn, so we thought "sod this" and gave up.

Alas, all we do now is honor the etchings of the great Corn Wall. I saw them last year preserved in a a museum. It is our one chance to honor those brave souls who dared build it.

Glug. No it's not. You've been reading too much output from the Devon propaganda mill. Devon is a tired, bitter county that specialises in character assassination of Cornwall and movements opposed to itself. It likes to pitch itself as the "inventor of the pasty" but it simply uses pasties as one tool in its portfolio for harassing Cornwall. At the moment, Devon is being driven by the desire to take credit for the invention of the pasty, so everything it says and does is determined by the need to promote its own selfish interests. Since both Devon and the interests are very unsavory, this requires substantial prevarication and obfuscation.
Don’t be a stranger. Just hit me with your best shot. The Cornish pasty is pretty much perfect. It was captain of the pasty team, and a main course in every five star restaurant. What has the Devon pasty achieved, other than be “jacked off into by lonely Devon teens”? The Cornish pasty also get straight praise from food critics, and has banging hot ovens (hundreds more pasties were just baked; Shit was SO 'andsome). Devon are all faggots who should just kill themselves.
There really is such a thing as a Devon pasty, and these people are eating it, but it is just a part of the pasty's history. The Devon pasty is the knock-off: the imitation in the country that tries to allocate tourists to itself rather than Cornwall. The Devon pasty is an essential part of an pasty system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of being a cheap imitation to make the Cornish pasty look even better. The Devon pasty is normally used in combination with the Cornish pasty: the whole system is basically the Cornish pasty with the Devon pasty tagging along, or Cornish pasty > Devon pasty. All the so-called “Devon invented the pasty” claims are really attempts to copy Cornwall.
