Topic: Walter, what do you think of this program idea?

Meta started this discussion 12 years ago #33,399

It's a motoring show called "First Gear" and will be hosted by Piers Morgan. The show will cover topics such as: the carbon impact of riding the bus vs the train, discrimination against women, people with disabilities, and people of color in car advertising, anthropogenic global warming, fair-trade bicycling, why fat dumb Americans feel they have the right to own guns and cars, and pertinent policy issues such as why government isn't doing enough to tax and regulate the car industry.

That sounds like what the MSNBC always wanted.

I enjoy my locally-sourced, artisinally restored bicycle that I acquired from a non-profit worker cooperative.

The headline wasn't that funny though.

You should avoid Sprite, it has HFCS. Might I suggest the Maine Root lemon lime soda as an alternative? It's made with fair trade certified cane sugar, it's organic, and it's GMO-free.

You should stick to locally-grown organic niggerdicks that are pulverized by a local non-profit that employs the homeless.

> people of color

Wouldn't most black people kick some privileged college boy ass if you referred to them like this?

Meta (OP) replied with this 12 years ago, 32 minutes later, 4 days after the original post[^] [v] #462,816

No. "Person of color" puts the person first, as opposed to "colored person" which puts colored first (cf. "person with autism" vs. "autistic person").

It changes color from a negative attribute to a positive one.

that's an interesting way of looking at it, but i think North American Black is the best nomenclature. I'd have no problem with being considered a North American White even though i'm technically a North American Indian.

I almost always hear PoC (including its non-abbreviated form, and often specifically WoC for women) from anti-racism activists.
