I've always felt the Porsche 944 was a brilliant car that was crippled by a lack of ground clearance, unibody construction, and two wheel drive. Porsche never really "got" offroading; even the Cayenne was a halfhearted, phoned-in effort at making a 4x4.

I also note the owner has omitted the engine, thus dramatically reducing the maintenance and repair costs that are a traditional pain of Porsche ownership.

They're not considered "real" Porsches, because the engine is in the front. Also the 1970s styling is now out of fashion.

I didn't say it was bad, just that it's no longer in fashion at the moment. I kind of like it myself, especially the back half of the car. Also Porsche made no attempt to make it look 911-ish, which is what most people associate with Porsche.
