And, yeah... Lighting, background, and different camera color profiles probably had a lot to do with the differences in skin tone and hair. It looks like they filtered out a lot of red in the "after" photo whereas the "before" pic was red-heavy. You can go play with the two photos in photo editing software and adjust it back (sort of) to even out for lighting/camera differences between the two photos.

I've always liked before and after photos where "before" was taken on a vintage 2003 VGA camera phone with horrible lighting, and "after" was taken with top-notch equipment in a perfectly lit studio and then retouched in Photoshop.
