So, I got a kindle for Christmas, and that's the first book I downloaded. Apparently it's like the greatest novel ever, hands down. Like the Citizen Kane of novels, good.
I actually feel a lot of pressure to enjoy it, like if I don't then I am somehow stupid, or below the readership that does enjoy it. To not like Anna Karenina is to scoff at Mozart, ostensibly.
So, has anyone read it, and if so, was it really the greatest book ever?

classics, especially romantic and early 20th century. Humor, books that focus on character development and dialogue. I lean towards realistic as opposed to fantasy or science fiction, although if done extremely well I can enjoy those types of books. Though, I also very much like horror, which I suppose could be considered fantasy of a sort.
Really anything that expresses a new or fascinsting idea.

My girlfriend was reading it and she didn't like it. She says it was well-writen but she didn't like the plot development and thought it was disappointing.
