Since none of you other lovelies made this thread, I figured that somebody should. What loot did you get this year, Minions?I recieved:
- A 40K rulebook (BRB, obviously, since I'm a fluff nut)
- Daemonifuge (a 40K comic)
- An Xbox One (was not expecting this at all)
- Dead Rising 3
- Two scarves

I got a Chromebook and an 1 TB external HDD, this Bitcoin shirt (see photo), and lot of Christmas candies, also soap carved like a Bitcoin.I gave my sister an R4i Gold 3DS but it needs a firmware update to work on her 3DS; she updated it ;-;
also gave limited edition art prints. oh and triptik's postcard came on Christmas eve.

I think i did good this year, i got people some cool gifts. i got my oldest nephew a steering wheel with shifting popealope and pedals for doing computer racing games. I also pointed his dad to the TrackIR website, so now he also has head tracking and can use that for driving and flight sims (which he now has.) Not only that, but his dad also bought him a new monitor with an insanely fast refresh rate, so when he's steering into the apex of turn he can look into the corner and find his line and everything will be smooth as butter.
also force feedback.
for my dad i got him a Saitec Flight Sim yoke system, rudder pedals, xplane 10, and a multiplayer WW1 style dog fighting sim. My brothers i got them games to play with their kids, everything from chess to settlers of catan. I got my mom Game of Thrones the table game, which looks similar to risk, but with sanctioned deviousness and betrayals. everyone got Game of thrones Pop dolls like Khal Drogo and Arya and John Snow.
i taught one of the young nephews how to parry and thrust with a sword.

I received a card printed on fancy paper that read: "Happy Holidays" When I opened it, there was, on very expensive card stock, printed, in 48 point sans font, the letter 'h'.

So the flight sim i got my dad was a pretty big hit. me and my brother hooked up the flight yoke and the rudder pedals and got everything installed and calibrated and figured out how to put the throttle on one of the levers. we loaded up a little single engine Cessna and both tried it out a bit, we could take off and fly around but neither of us landed anything. Then my dad comes in and sits down. he used to be a pilot, and this was one of the planes he trained on. he set the brakes, throttled up, let it off and it took him a second to get used to the tension and resistance in the peddals, but he evened it out and made a pretty textbook take off. he climbed to 1500 feet and leveled off, he cruised due N for a minute and then gently rolled it over W, all the while keeping nice and even on the horizon at 1500 ft, he flew for a bit, then turned S. he brought that plane all the way south of the airport and lined up straight with the run way, he cut the throttle, set the flaps and floated down in the middle of the runway for a perfect landing.
it was about a 10 minute flight and all the while he had a little smile on his face.
then he did it a few more times and did a few maneuvers and different approaches, couple of touch-and-go's.
dead serious look on his face.
after he landed finally for real and taxied off the runway and parked he got up and found my mom (who also soloed in the same plane when she got her license) and said, "honey, come try this." she didn't get up but said, "no, you need to teach the boys how to play that game, look at their faces."
and she was right, we were humbled and looked amazed. he sat us down and taught us how to hold altitude and use instruments to make proper synchronized turns. he schooled us.
then we started playing with jets. i had a hard time taking off and i went out for a smoke. came back and my dad was trying to land on an aircraft carrier.
i think he likes it.

jelly beans from an aunt and some really lovely stuff from boyfriend (books! hot water bottle, a pretty bracelet, lots of lovely tiny things from interrailing). i gave him books and shirts and records, will be sending more stuff throughout the year.

i just got downloaded that myself, i played it some but i wasn't getting into it for some reason. i tried it after World of Warplanes which is by the same people as World of Tanks, but World of Warplanes used mouse steering and joysticks are wonky with it. So i found Warthunder next and that was better, i'm definitely going to have him download it for the multiplayer. But i'm not sure i ended up playing Rise of Flight so much more. I'm getting him that as soon as he makes a steam account.
right now it's all being run on my brother's gaming system, which is a decent system, but a little boggy.
i'm going to take my computer out there sunday and hook everything up to it and hopefully my nephew brings his trackIR back over because it looks awesome. i want one. but first i have to figure out how to make the quick-and-dirty dual monitor setup we rigged display a left side view. not as easy as i thought, apparently. I can mirror the destop on #2, i can extend the desktop to the left from #1 to #2, but i don't know how to make monitor #2 "it's own desktop." i'm sure it'll get figured out.
