Why does Microsoft make such shit web browsers?

Anonymous A (OP) double-posted this 13 years ago, 15 minutes later[^] [v] #459,201

Now it looks normal in IE9 yet when I logged in it's now asking me for a captcha despite being here before and now it's telling me to lurk 60 seconds before posting my first reply.

Nigga, I made my first reply years ago.

Why would the web browser be obsolete?

> Internet Explorer
10 / 10 would LOL again
Does anyone who knows how computers work actually use this anymore??

EDIT: No, I get it. people who work in offices and are forced to use whatever the IT team has locked down... People who who just buy a new PC from wherever... but surely, how does this travesty continue?

Marketing maybe? IE9 does seem to be an improvement over 8 though so maybe Microsoft is starting to try?

I just don't understand it. I seriously don't. For as long as I can recall, using IE has been like sending out a call signal to everyone you come into contact with on the Internet that you want to host malware and maybe some botnets. Yes, I know that Firefox vulnerabilities have been targeted and that Chrome isn't perfect. But using a browser so tightly integrated with the OS (which also instantly identifies you as a Windows user to any site willing to read UA strings) just seems a little crazy.

What do you think of Maxthon?

I honestly haven't used it that much, so I don't really have anything to say about it. :\ I know it exists, and I have used it briefly. I haven't used it extensively enough to really get an opinion about it though.

What about Avant Browser that has all three rendering engines of IE, Firefox, and Chrome built in?

in the future no one uses it anymore because of a newer better paradigm.

Micro$oft is doing this because Minichan is better than anything they've made, ever. So they throw a pissy little fit and "accidentally" make their web browser not render it right.

But no one except lame businesses and Windoze Fone users use IE anymore because it sucks, so it's a moot point.
