Topic: I cancelled my cable today (americans thread)

squeegee started this discussion 13 years ago #33,023

Irritating. I got it cancelled but not without a bunch of hassle. When I called I was able to get a hold of "new accounts and upgrades" so fast, three ring tops. But when transferred to cancellations I waited in phone orbit for 20 minutes with god awful, broken and distorted music blasting in my ear.

Finally I got a chick on the line and after a while I just started saying, no, just cancel my tv service please. I had to repeat that 10 times over and over. They kept offering me more free useless services. I kept saying, no, just cancel my tv service please.

Finally she shut it off.
Now my internet is down.
Wtf.

I bet now I'm going to have never ending internet problems. I bet they do that shit to try and force you back onto cable. I may end up having to move, literally move, in order to change internet providers. How fucked is that?

Why haven't you challenged the cable company to a rodeo? I thought that was the Texas way?

Rodeos are immune to legal claims. I thought that you'd know this, being a Texan?

Cable will be dead soon enough. Even HBO will lose to Netflix if they don't get an on-demand option up and running.

actually i just learned that all of the HBO shows I watch are now available on Google Play and will be available new each week. Honestly HBO was the reason for my holdout, i just can't justify it anymore.
The internet is just superior.
All shows on demand 24/7 ala carte.
Livin' tha dream.

Still no pay one price for all you can eat option. Who knew that as shitty as it is, Netflix would become the superior option simply because every other company wont let go of the pay-per-view model.
