the only remotely useful thing reddit gold does is let you see when someone types out your /u/ in a comment and possibly lets you harvest butthurt from gold-only circlejerks. just ignore really; or more fun, you can edit your comment to insult the autists that support reddit.

wow, 2000 comment karma on one comment, plus gold. i had one before that got 40 karma and i thought that was pretty good.
So people on reddit don't want hard hitting political critiques and social analysis, they like silly little jokes.
