So, I was talking to my girlfriend, and she was going on about how much she loved me, and how I was basically just the best thing to ever exist, that I gave her life meaning, that she'd be willing to tattoo my name onto her, and all that jazz. (Might call her out on the tattoo thing at some point.)

I then asked her "What would you do if I broke up with you"

She responded "I don't want to tell you because it isn't nice" or something along those lines.

I said " I think I know", and she responded after a pause with " I know you do"
She then went on about how she wouldn't ever tell me or threaten me with it, but if she lost me she would in fact likely kill herself, and did have a plan of how to do it.

I told her that I appreciated that, and that her level of commitment meant a lot, but that if I did want to leave her, her life would not be a factor that I would consider. If I am done with someone then I do not care what they do after that.

I don't know if I handled the situation well, I wanted to assure her that I had no plans of leaving her, and also make sure that she wasn't manipulating me with the information. But I think I came across as overly cold.

What do you think MC?

She already on occasion questions if I'm a sociopath, she's brought it up a few times at least. She thinks that I might just be mirroring what she wants, and sees that I have a tendency to do that with others. But she isn't going to give up what might be perfect love on the off chance that it's all a sham.

I feel like I'm honest with her, and not mirroring her. But this doesn't help me look not cold. If I were mirroring her I would just flat out tell her I felt the same way.
