Sounds like a generalization to me. I have been eating beef and poultry for decades and never gotten ill. I have been sick as a result of eating seafood.

I get mine locally, and put a little salt on the eggs to preserve them. That has always worked for me, and I've never heard of anyone getting Salmonella from the guy I buy from.
