It really would. You would have to feel as one with other people as you met them. You might not be able to distance yourself from poor people, and you might help them out. All those places in the Gospels where Jesus meets poor people and vagabonds would totally make sense, and you might actually give a shit about people who are starving or poor. The poor and hungry would cry, "We live in a system of unfettered capitalism! We are serfs in a land of owners of the means of production!" And then the capitalist robber barons would chuckle, "Fine, you people are the salt of the earth! You can work at my factory for half the price it takes to employ you. You can eat! Mind you, though, I'm taking a loss... It might have to come out of your pay."
