I give some money when they come to the door. Recently they started wanting people to sign up for recurring payments through bank accounts, though. Fuck. That.

Why would I do that? I pay taxes, and part of my taxes goes toward alleviating the suffering of the less fortunate. Also I don't have the time or interest to do the research necessary to know what charities aren't scams. I'd rather just let welfare handle it. So I do ;)

I do only charity work that directly impacts peoples lives (like workshops for parentless children, helping out in areas struck by disasters etc.). Not really a big fan of donating money since you never really know where it'll end up and how much of it will actually help.

I make food for a soup kitchen or to pass out to homeless people on the street every now and again. That's about it currently.

Yeah I hate this too. Even more annoying when they will only accept direct debits (recurring) and nothing else.

Yep, but only if it directly benefits children (not in a to4str way) or animals. (Maybe old people too, but I haven't actually done that yet)

There are so many charity scams that I have given up donating anything to any organized charity. Even the legit charities are a little fishy sometimes.

I just saw there's a donate link. I thought the JDIF was paid for by American, German, and Israeli tax dollars. Heh. I thought the JDIF was for people to make money sitting in their basement arguing with trolls.
