This is a little strange, but it really depends on the circumstances.
I've lived with judgmental types that couldn't help but tell you exactly what they thought about everything regardless of whether it concerned them or not. I would often wait until they were gone or sleeping to get things done without having to hear a load of unsolicited advice while I was busy doing something.
