Topic: I fucking hate this British "stone" thing

HaikerensGuide !dBGi/iH4eY started this discussion 13 years ago #32,293

Pounds, you useless chav scum. POUNDS. Hell even kilograms would make more sense. What the hell is a stone?

Annoying thing is they do it on shows that are destined for a US market.

I only measure distance in furlongs and rods, I use hands to measure height, and fathoms for depth. For weights, of course, I use stone or hundredweight.

But really, it's a misunderstanding: they hear we use the British/Imperial units, and they're kinda the same but not quite and stuff gets lost in translation.

Like how MAtt thinks he's French and that Cajun patois "French" he learned living in a swamp shack on the bayou with Iris and Marsden wouldn't get him laughed at in Paris.

metric is the only system that makes an inch of sense.

1 feet = 12 inches
1 yard = 3 feet

> yard wasn't defined
> yard is now defined in meters

You've really mastered the English dialect, you sound like a native speaker.
