i understand apple in doing this as they are essentially really good trolls
i am happy that i can replace the ram, disk, and even a normal wifi card tucked inside a plastic wrapper
but in this next generation you can not change anything, even the ram is soldered to it
makes sense in the air but not in 13/15" models, it is just silly!
the battery has been super glued to the case as well
i think its stupid of apple to estrange users who can remove screws to upgrade/replace disks/ram/etc
now its only hoping for another fan phobic company to make decent hardware thats silent AND user upgradable

lol, some do! fanboys are a problem too, i have had a lot of apple hardware which is run with windows/osx/whatever and most were easy to service/fix/upgrade
having no user replaceable parts in the larger models just makes no sense other than fucking with me personally
when i bought this macbook i did so with the least amount of diskspace and ram (just like i would do for dell) and then upgrade it for 1/3 of the price
so the 2013 models are fucked, in 2014 we will see apple macbooks that are welded close, trust me

Not far from me is a supplier to Apple of a key chip. So I have viewed many on benches opened up for...and that is all I can say.
But everyone No's that the future is total throw away electronics with repairs n upgrades total impossible.

when apple was still cool (wozniak) apples actually came with directions on how to take them apart, create your own parts, etc

That's been the Apple philosophy from almost the beginning. The original Macintosh in 1984 had proprietary tri-wing screws and no upgrade slots. Because Apple is a computer you shouldn't have to think about these things with.
If ever anything should go wrong, you take it to the Apple Genius whose job it is to worry about all the messy under the hood stuff.

The prototype looks ugly and clunky. Also what about drivers? And it looks like if you drop the phone all the blocks will come apart and you'll have to put it back together.

I had a couple three IBM Thinkpads and replaced batteries several tymes. The original made by IBM's - So apparently the new Apples with glue have batteries that will take recharge 4Ever and never need replacement.

Perhaps they will become so efficient only a small battery will be needed cause they will perfect stealing RF from everywhere to power up the device.
People have been busted for stealing over a full Kilowatt of power from an AM station in their hood. Plays havoc with AM station pattern.
In theory this could work for small watch like devices in the future - In theory only of course.
