The PC market in the '80s. It was a new thing to have a computer at home and people had to decide whether to get an Amiga or a Commodore or an Apple or an IBM PC compatible and they were all incompatible with each other and complex.

I may be misreading it, but it sounds like you've described a product format war like in the '80s when you had to decide whether you wanted a VHS, Betamax, or Video2000 VCR.

> complexity, compatibility, relative advantage, observability, and/or trialability.
Is that "or" applicable to any of those factors you mentioned? If that's true, then that applies to almost any product ever, yeah?

Lol they had a laserdisc player in class and I always thought the HUGE disk was amazing. Having to flip it halfway through the film always seemed like a real inconvenience.

Had one in class too. It auto-flipped but it still paused for a bit halfway through.

In storage in Santa Monica I have maybe 15 still in box Discovision players with unopened sets of movies on Laserdisk. I still keep my tyme on Discovision on my resume for for hummmmm well I am proud of the little I contributed to such.
Sad just sad that the disc were produced in a dirty very dirty environment. IBM joined the venture and pointed out need for clean room attitude LoL

We had a box of floppy discs I always wanted to use but never did; they had been phased out by the time I was in maybe middle school, tops. I'm disappointed.

Not really, seeing as I never had to use dial-up either.

You can buy a USB floppy drive and relive the halcyon days of magnetic storage.

Of course I did. I don't remember us not having broadband. (Is that even the name? The stuff that isn't dial-up.)

Use it! Soon hipsters will begin using floppies and you have to get in before they do so you can say you used floppies ironically before it was cool.
