so let me get this right, idiots who have nuclear bunkers in their gardens and stock pile on army rations and pea shooters vote on a bunch of bigger idiots who form a tea party within the republican party that nobody wants or likes who'll vote against everything because they really hate any form of government?

The tea party isn't the guns and bomb shelter people, those are called "preppers" (as in preparing for the apocalypse). The Tea Party is a bunch of hypocritical old people who want maximum government money for themselves, but not for anyone else. They're best summed up in the attached image; the sign basically translates to "keep your government hands out of my taxpayer-funded free health care". Now if they're against taxation and government largesse, that's fine. But at least be honest and consistent about it.
Their motivation for doing it is because they know if everyone gets "free" healthcare, then the medical system will be overwhelmed and there won't be enough to go around, causing some of them to die. It's a self preservation thing.

Fuck you idiots. The teabaggers have a point. You just wont allow yourselves to see it on account of the high percentage of Christian Conservative fags in their ranks. Doesn't make them wrong though, simply means stupid people may not always be as stupid as they seem.
