I doubt it. First, Apple's not in decline, they've just leveled off. But this has been going on forever, Apple will introduce some amazing device (Macintosh in '84, iPhone in '07, etc), initially dominate the market, then everyone else catches up and they fall back to being a niche player.
Apple's dominance in the tablet and smartphone market was destined to be short-lived once Android caught up. Apple's position will be what it always was: expensive shiny $$$$$$ designer electronics with 10-20% market share. Just like in the PC market, the vast majority of people will settle for a "good enough" Android phone/tablet at half the cost of an iPhone/iPad. Android is the Windows of the post-pc era and Google is the new Microsoft.
In short, Apple isn't declining, they're just returning to what they always were: a high-end niche player selling designer luxury electronics.

Also Steve Jobs wasn't always right. He was behind the Apple Lisa (which failed) NeXT (which failed) the Ping music social network (failed) the ugly skeumorphism in iOS and OS X (thankfully being eliminated). Remember, Steve Jobs didn't even want an app store for the iPhone. Steve Jobs had some amazing ideas, but he wasn't entirely behind Apple's success.
Oh, also Steve Jobs was firmly against 8" tablets, which are a large part of the market. The iPad mini has been a huge success, and probably wouldn't have been launched with Jobs in charge.

Indeed, but if it had not been bought by Apple, it would have burned through Jobs' fortune and gone bankrupt. NeXT was never profitable or successful as a standalone company.

I honestly never understood how Linux got past the patent issue that tied up Bell Tech labs/Berkeley UNIX and one day when I got nada to do I will look that up.

The original ('84-2000) Mac OS was not Unix-based, but Apple did make a Unix OS called A/UX in the early '90s, which could also run regular Mac OS programs.

Glug, I'd just like to interject. Linus Torvalds wrote a kernel that wouldn't have worked without the GNU work that came before it.

It's been like 20 years now and GNU Hurd is still not finished. Stallman can be butthurt for the rest of eternity, but the Linux kernel made GNU a workable OS.

So from wot I see here its that Linux created a Kernel that was different enough from Kernel of UNIX that it was patent infring clear and being smart they used the same Syntax of UNIX which probably was not patented - Not so smart of Bell Labs LoL but great for the rest of us.
I had so much respect for Bell Labs as Kiddlet cause they published the Monthly Technical Journal which provided me with the how 2's to Blue Box the Telco system and have my way with it.
If I were a kiddlet 2day I suspect I wood be blue boxing Satellites and Yes one can!!
OK my respect was not limited to giving me a play toy. Everything I do 2day is based on Shannon & Nyquist which is the Math and theory that drives all communication technology and even keeps most people honest cept for AT&T of all people

About to head out for my daily 10 Mile run on beach and yes yes Mike Markkula. He as I were hired as full Engineers without a degree - He got his first n me 2nd while working for HAC and we both were taking courses at USC under a terrific Professor who was also on our team at HAC.
Both of us worked on a super secrete fire control system - Radar imaging technology that is very close to CDMA of the future, because it was Analog wide band swept frequency and tagged for coherence on receive yet non coherent on transmit. The very basis of Orthogonal as a predecessor. And Mike was hands on in design of mixed Analog-Digital. We are both about the same exact age.
I decided to go the way of Imaging technology that ends up in space to take wot looks like regular photos and Mike decided to go to Fairchild and ended up as a Marketing Manager Extraordinaire - He tried to push me in2 Fairchild but I had no interest in the Digital IC end and its funny how Mike with his background in mostly Analog decided to push Fairchild in2 much more Analog - Maybe if it were such I wood have joined him but wot I was doing for Spy vs Spy was so damned exciting - Have never looked back
