I know someone was giving away an account, but I guess that was before bunker, as I couldnt find it.
I just installed it (quick too), and while I think the look is subpar and the GUI is kind of lame, the character progression seems intersting, and I liked the few minutes i played.
Very WoW template. ! get quest, finish quest go back to ?. Easy rings to locate quest locations. Very hold your hand. I dont understand why games don't try to be different, but other than that it was fun. Only played like an hour. I probably wont buy it, but Ill still play around a bit and give it a chance (until my beta period ends, its for the stress test at 2 today and I think it ends this weekend).
I was also looking at Mortal Online, which like Darkfall, seems like a great game, but the players dont seem to like it. I think I should just deal with the grind/low player base on darkfall. The game is fun as hell. I'm not a hardcore play every second kind of gamer, but I already was ok in pvp matches where I wasn't jumped. I could either escape or hold my own against more veteran players (at least the ones who were ganking me). There was a few who steam rolled me even though I saw them coming, but I still find the encounters fun. I just love FFA loot because it makes the game interesting. I see no risk involved in games like WoW. I have never felt a loss at dying. Twice when I was starting out I ended up with virtually nothing in Darkfall. Once the first or second day and again the next week. I had been doing well but just had a string of bad luck. All weapons broken and no cash and just a hodgepodge of crappy armor. It was tough, but it made killing the easiest mobs fun. Even the first mobs are challenging. The shitty pathing actually makes for interesting fights.
Also, skill does account for a lot in these games. You couldnt beat a mid-range player with a brand new guy regardless of how good you are, but close the gap a bit and you can do well. Especially if you are first to attack. Its really thrilling to pvp. The risk vs reward is always pretty even, unless its some naked ganking in cities trying to take advantage of in-game mechanics for free kills.

I played Rift, the amount of character customization is awesome but the whole "rift" gimmick is terrible. I can't see it being a WoW killer.

Yea, it's just another wow clone. Shame because it's pretty interesting what you can do with the classes. I'm just tired of the same carbon copy progression. I feel like I've been playing the same game just different graphics.
