You can buy 1.75+ litre bottles of spirits, and 1.5 litre bottles of wine, as well as "40s" (40 US ounces=1.18 litres) of lager. Im guessing the cider is 6% or less alcohol by volume, so a 1.5L bottle of wine (typically 13% alcohol) would pack more of a punch.
