i always thought the idea of electoral votes were dumb. like, my vote wouldn't be as important as somebody in fucking florida. it just seems hypocritical to the "every man is created equal" idea. i always felt this way, and then i learned that bush lost the popular vote twice, and its like, well there you go. are there any reasons for the electoral vote system?

The electoral vote system is ridiculous. At the very least they should do away with the winner take all stance so they would more accurately portray the way people voted.
