Twitter forum in that it has a 250 char limit. Keep the posts small to keep the flow going. I've started it, got the very, very basic functionality working, i.e post new thread, reply to thread. No mod or admin tools, no protection, no identification, notihing. This is pretty much start from scratch.

It's very raw, I agree. However, there is something about the jQuery, 250 char limit posts, that appeals to me.
