Fuck off I got them at Payless. Seriously though the boots I have for work are bulky and heavy. I have nicer shoes for formal occasions like weddings and what have you. I tend to do a lot of hiking on my days off, and loafers or dress boots aren't as useful doing things like that.

I do Network Administration for my employer. So while I do have to do a lot of walking from site to site and office to office, and I do have to lift heavy things, I still have to have very serious meetings with people in powerful positions. I often have to explain very technical things or voice disagreement with people above me, so I have to always be taken seriously. People treat you very differently based on how you dress for work. I spent a few weeks once dressing down, and people received me differently.
Edit: I am also in my early 20s so I need to make sure I appear as professional as possible. The people I work with are all 40+ and I need to be seen as their equal.

You should only be wearing dress shoes if your job requires you to wear a suit. If you're wearing a dress shirt and dress pants with sneakers, then I agree you will look like an unprofessional dipshit, but everyone else wears sneakers to work. Most places actually require you to wear sneakers. Almost everyone working in retail wears sneakers. Also, dress shoes are uncomfortable if worn throughout the day, I don't care where you buy them, and no I did not buy mine from WalMart.
