It would give me the sedan aspect of a Town Car, with the handling of a Mark VIII. Is there anything I need to know about it regarding expensive issues? Should I just get a Mark VIII instead?

Uneasy. It's built on a Jaguar platform (the DEW98 chassis) with a Jaguar engine (AJ V8). That being said, the chassis and engine were co-developed with Ford by the "new" (ie Ford-owned) Jaguar, which supposedly makes much more reliable cars than the old, British Leyland Jaguar did. Jaguar DNA scares me. It's a lovely car, and a serious competitor to the 5 Series/E Class, but the reliability and cost of ownership are going to be worse than a Mk VIII.

That's what I was afraid of. I was hoping to get the sportiness of the Mark VIII with some legroom for my friends like the Town Car. And I seriously do not understand how a 4L V8 Jag motor can be more inefficient than a 5.7l GM LS1 motor.

If you're going to get a Jaguar, get a proper one. Series I XJ12 in British Racing Green.

I'm not looking for a Jaguer. I could never afford to insure and maintain them. I'm just looking for a fancy Ford.
