any comedy show that needs a tape with people laughing is bad
there is good american comedy and there is bad british; only fools and horses is for example very bad
british comedy is more absurd en you may have to think or have in depth knowledge of live in britain to appreciate the jokes
american comedy is for a wider audience, but not always; curb your enthusiasm is an example of comedy done right by a guy who did it wrong with seinfeld (laughing tape ruins the whole fucking show)

some good british "comedy" i can recommend to becky: a young doctors notebook (its a short mini series with harry potter and don draper, don;t know if its meant to be a comedy but it is very funny), in the thick of it (though you do need to know some stuff about life in britain) it is a constant barrage of cursing, word jokes, nick names and angry scotsmen and on hulu for free. some panel shows are quite funny but not so accessible, maybe QI is a good start. then there is the old monty python tv show, not the movies but only watch it if you like absurdism. peep show was mentioned and well worth the watch. some older stuff by ricky gervais is not too bad like Extras - I'm not much of a fan of the office. regardless of what anyone says though do not watch anything with a laughter tape, it is not worth your time and any show that needs to explain where a joke is to their audience is shit anyways - when its funny i know when to laugh
