Yeah, the supposed 20,000–50,000 deaths annually from fossil fuel power far outweigh the aggregate nuclear toll. It’s certainly problematic that the waste lasts a while.

They don't produce enough energy right now to be practical. In the future this will probably be viable, but in the mean time it means huge costs, and using oil to make them in the first place.
So until then, it's better to use nuclear in safe areas.

Also, I heard that Cheronobyl was extremely preventable. Like - there were a huge amount of stupid fucking mistakes. It's kind of lame that the incident turned us off from nuclear power
