Topic: If reincarnation exists, how might it work scientifically and what effects would it have on society?

Cat !TGirlYJKXM started this discussion 13 years ago #30,613

Been wondering this for sometime. If reincarnation was true, how would this work scientifically? What effects would this have on society if people knew that they came back as an animal or another person?

I heard the latter question can be and has been explored before.

I put that question to Google and its not so easy to find out just how many world wide believe in Reincarnation. Pew research did a major study of USA and found 20% believe in it. Native Americans have it as part of their religion and of course the Hindus and Buddhists.

But a quick look and I could not see a case of anyone having a clue what they wood cum back as.

Anyway if you look at Hindus and Buddhists and how they look at it...In theory it helps keep them being more good then bad. Good and you cum back as something good. Bad and you might return as a flea and have a rather short life that way. Of course if you were a good flea then you could return in a more better form.

But fleas do not have a concept of good and evil so how would that work? A short life seems like just a transitional step toward the life after. Maybe why reincarnation has never been a purely human belief.

I used the flea only as an example at the bottom edge of what one might cum back as.

> Maybe why reincarnation has never been a purely human belief.

er not a clue what you mean by that. I doubt cats think about coming back as dogs.

I mean humans only coming back as humans and most animals don't have a concept of good and evil. So wouldn't coming back as any animal just be a quick detour until the next human incarnation?

I think Wiki sums it up

Reincarnation is the religious or philosophical concept that the soul or spirit, after biological death,

begins a new life in a new body that may be human, animal or spiritual

depending on the moral quality of the previous life's actions

Most excellent point.

Room for lots of fleas but not so much for humans.

Unless of course we're talking about reincarnation across the entire universe...then I suppose human to human is viable. I sincerely doubt we are the only ones here.

Now here is something to ponder. What happens if somebody comes back as a jellyfish who is immortal?
