something either fucked up and mind-screwy like attack on titan, evangelion or madoka magica or something nice and lighthearted like toradora or tsuritama.
not the james cameron one though, i preferred disney's take on pocahontas more.

Hmmm. I was hoping you'd get annoyed about my suggestion that Last Airbender was an anime. Because apparently that's a thing that anime fans do. Oh well!
As you may of guessed I don't actually know animes so I shall respectfully bow out of this thread. Good luck finding some weeb tv.

it's cool. anything with a good story is acceptable, imo.

Darker than Black
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
Fate/Zero
Psycho Pass (though it has problems, in my opinion)

The episodes are very well drawn and i would say they have the same standard for modern day cartoons and they can be pretty fucked up sometimes. It takes place in the future where there are lots of robots except that robots are
supposed to have equal rights, the cops can disagree with this very often. So you see this robot (astro) who looks like a 8 year old kid being subjected to racism, for example people can tell him how worthless he is as a robot etc...
The episodes can be about many things, alien invasions, Mayan pyramids, time travel, crystal spaceship, a robot that malfunctioned and thought it was god and started going ape shit over everything... the list just goes on. The episodes can be depressing, i mean when you watch this 8 year old kid see his friend get blown into bit and pieces you kind of feel sad also. Then there can be this total wtf moments where all the sudden some person will show astro his true form and turn into a flower plant.

> Doraemon: A robot cat's inventions and technology
Seems cute, Doraemon shares a seiyuu with Monobear, might check out.
> Chobits: Pretty female looking robot's daily "life"
Seen the first episode, doesn't seem interesting. Consists mostly of fanservice.
> Fullmetal Alchemist: Two boys try to bring their mother back to life. Smaller brother gets a government job to find out what to do.
Interesting enough, and a classic.
> Sailor Moon: An average girl is told she's a superhero by none other than a specific magical cat.
Magical girl anime don't really appeal to me, but this too is a classic.
> Kuroshitsuji: A rich boy who owns a toy company makes a pact with a demonic butler. Lots of horror and British stereotypes parodied.
Interesting enough, again, but the fan base has kind of ruined it for me.
> Hetalia: Countries are now people. Follow this reality show about country people.
Again, interesting enough, with a surprising depth to it, but the fan base...
> Deadman Wonderland: Things that happen in an amusement park run by death row inmates. Lots of high technology and messed up stuff.
I started watching this but I got distracted by Dangan Ronpa.
> Those are most of the more mainstream ones. > > For lesser known: > > Nyan Koi: A boy who is allergic to cats needs to save cats. Not accurate to the manga but lots of elements of action, comedy and harem.
Meh, harem and magical girl things aren't really my thing.
> Precure: Kind of typical magical girl series with fucked up mutants and high pitched fairy voices. > > Puni Puni Japanese: Not sure if it counts, a Japanese learning lesson series with multicolored speaking blobs.
Nah.
> Mameshiba: Half-bean, half-dog in appearance. They speak human language and make humans lose their appetites. > "mame"= bean, "shiba" =dog
I've heard of this, it looks really cute but it doesn't seem much more interesting beyond that.
