Topic: pop music is neoromantic

The whole idea behind romanticism is escapism, to escape from the drudgery, and hardship of industrialism, fighting the machine-man. Living vicariously through the hero, a life of adventure, in touch with nature, not hindered by the troubles of having to work constantly in a X factory.

Now, we have pop music in its current state, filled to the brim with talk of constant partying, sex, money, etc. all without putting in any effort. How is this romantic? It's an escape, from societal expectations, from the world. In a song you can dream about things that could never happen, and maybe you wouldn't even want to happen if you truly thought about it, but in the world of the music, it's appealing, it's, dare I say it? Romantic.

Just like the romantics escaping the drudgery of factory life, the neoromantics of pop culture are providing an escape from, I have no idea, I don't need escapism, but something I'm sure.
