What sort of anxiety are you dealing with? What is a gp?

They have a standard set of questions for diagnosing anxiety disorders. You'll either be prescribed something or referred to a psychologist, and there's not really any way of knowing. Just depends on the GP's attitude.

A GP is a general practitioner. Just a general doctor you can go and see about everyday illnesses and such.

general practitioner
mostly it's social anxiety but i guess other things can cause it because i've been anxious to the point of crying since yesterday.

ah. i'd rather not be referred, the nearest adolescent mental health place talks to parents.

Would it be possible to arrange to see a therapist?

Have you considered alcohol?

If it's anything like Ireland you'll be put on medication and recommended to go see a physiatrist.

thanks. meds are good. meds are very good. i'll see if i can sort out seeing a counselor at home but i don't know how feasible that is
Handel !JwkjmyyOPs replied with this 13 years ago, 1 minute later, 38 minutes after the original post[^][v]#429,349
Depending on the GP you can refuse to see a physiatrist and they should still give you the meds.

Call up your GP's clinic and ask to change your GP.

I see. Well, if you can manage to find a way to see a therapist, I highly suggest that. Just wait the few more weeks, it would be worth it. I have had some pretty crippling anxiety issues in the past, I know how hard it can be. But yeah, I finally mustered up the courage to make an appointment to see someone, it was difficult as fuck but it helped tremendously. Best route imo.

Talk to your parents about it? I'm sure you'll find a way to work it out, don't worry yourself any more than necessary.

That sucks. Seems like you're in a pretty difficult predicament and I don't really know what to tell you. I'm assuming you're a minor so I'm not sure how that would work, but maybe you can talk to your GP and see if she or he can help you work something out. I wish you the best. :/

Shame you have to wait that long. You could try calling in a few days and asking if any slots any sooner have opened up, lots of people cancel their appointments.
Good luck, things'll work out.

That's a very good idea, thank you. There's another place nearby that might have an open slot but I think you have to register with a GP to see them and I don't think you can be registered with more than one.
