Topic: Can anyone reccomend any good games for an Android phone?

Anonymous A started this discussion 13 years ago #29,233

Even though using a touchscreen to play a game feels kinda... weird

Pulse for news. Spotify for music (keep making new accounts to get unlimited 48 hour trials).I don't know if the gameboy emulators are still on the market, but those are cool.

Update: they do have emulators still, I am playing castlevania!

Thanks bud! And you got good taste, I freakin' LOVE Castlevania! Especially number 4, Dracula X and whichever one it was I played on the GBA

Is that the one with the evil girl in pink trying to resurrect Dracula? And the player falls down a really long hole at the start? The name sounds kinda familiar?

That's the one! I'm playing harmony of dissonance right now though, as cool as it is that you can play the game for free on an android phone, it doesn't feel the same as actually having a gameboy or whatever else, just feels lesser. Also harder to control, and Castlevania is already a fairly difficult game.

Circle of the moon was AWESOME!! It's a lot easier than the NES ones though - hey did you ever find the plastic ring? Was so hard to find (can't remember how) and never found a use for it. I would likely have proposed to the bitch in pink if the game had let me with that cheap-ass ring :) Well it was kinda valuable, being so rare

Emulator and roms. Unless you want to be a sheep and buy Angry Birds.

Angry birds is ok, just 'cause it's so popular doesn't make one a sheep for liking it. That would make anyone a sheep for liking Tetris etc. I love emulating older games but prefer to do so on a computer as I have a decent control pad. But the fan's broken and computer won't work for long in this heat. Angry birds is comfortable to play on a touchscreen though

You really have to judge games on how they are presented on the medium they are intended for. Games for PC or GBA are not necessarily games that play well with other controls. PAC-MAN, sucks to play on a phone. I love tower defense games, but I can't stand playing them on a phone-sized screen. Mariokart for GBA on a phone: sucks. Zelda... not so bad, if you have time to poke. Angry Birds? Fruit Ninja? Easy and made for touchscreen devices, but they would be boring on a console or PC. So... games don't always translate.

If you think a cross between nethack and chess would be fun, then I have found Ending to be pretty fun, but you can play through the whole thing online too.

Also, your tripcode is so 90s.

Indeed good Sir! Just letting you know.

Anyhow, you have neglected to mention the kinds of games you are interested in playing. Also, I think Anon B was referring to Plants vs. Zombies, a decent tower defense game.

Haha thanks! Anything except sports games, really - With the exception of racing, tennis, martial arts, wrestling etc... will definitely give Ending a try as chess is good (can imagine it working well on a touchscreen) and not played Nethack yet

> not played Nethack yet
It's an ASCII dungeon crawl that's been around since forever. Ending is fun as (it is played on a checkered board) and teaches about critical endgame chess tactics like opposition and tempo. It's not for everyone, but it's easy to play through on a touch interface. I am seriously jonesing for something quick and easy to play on a tablet, but aside from Words With Friends, some chess apps, and a few other asynchronous multi-player games I haven't found anything terribly fun.

Chess Time is about as close as you can get to Chess With Friends type play for Android. Apps that go through FICS are pretty cool, but you generally both have to be logged into FICS to play, so it isn't good for casual, move whenever I get around to it style, type games.

LOL I have no fucking clue who that is... I would have used a photo of Alexandra Kosteniuk who appeared in Penthouse and is fucking adorable. Also, she is a grandmaster player. Here is a video of her beating Magnus Carlsen in a blitz match.
