My mothers side of family - MOM was 18th to be born. Huge number of cousins 2nd-3rd cousins and not a single case of Cancer.
Dads side of family less children and not a single case of Cancer.
So there is Genetics AND AND
No question chemicals can cause cancer - Carcinogens like Tobacco or alpha - beta - gamma - neutron and X-Rays.
I surf with a gal who works for a cancer research company near by and she uses Benzene to modify DNA and can produce cancer in lab rats on a daily basis.

I didn't get a chance to ask questions but I think they're removing her breast based on her families medical history. I.e. She doesn't have cancer, this is a precautionary measure.
