I had to upgrade because I got a new laptop and couldn't afford the one I have, nonetheless a mac. I like Windows 8 alright, but 1 thing I hate is that my time keeps on going 3 hours behind after I fix it time after time. Besides that, what's all the hoop and holler all about?

You need to set your local for the correct tyme. Example I am on the Pacific Coast. If you are on the East coast? Your laptop is set for PDT currently and changing ONLY THE TYME will not force it to remain.
You need to click on clock and look for that Change date and tyme settings Set Local and from then on you tyme stays correct.

because the whole thing revolved around touch and most people's only touch devices are apple devices.
most monitors are still just regular CRTs or ordinary LCDs or whatnot.
i can understand microsoft's move, if they made Windows Surface Touch for tablets as a stand alone OS alongside mouse friendly Flagship Windows PC it would surely fail, so they were forced to continue to integrate the two. since microsoft didn't innovate to scale down their Surface R&D project that focused on Surface for huge screens and table tops instead of something you hold in your hands (that was steve jobs "idea") microsoft fell behind. had microsoft made a hand held touchscreen smartphone with Surface then windows 8 wouldn't have needed to be so silly.
i always skip a version anyway. so far far my luck has held. windows 9 (SP3 most likely) will be amazing

You still get the desktop feature. Everything else is just meant to be an add-on.

You meant Windows 8.1, which is meant to be the same as Windows 8, but with fixed issues that you Windows 8 h8ers are complaining about.

no, i mean whichever version comes next that microsoft will use to distance itself as far as possible from their previous, disastrous, release.
they'll probably call it Windows Velociraptor because Velociraptors are cool (in the 90s) and they'll hope to appeal to young users to get them hooked on the brand early. microsoft, of course, will miss the mark by a good 10 years (again) at least.
these days Velociraptors are pretty passe.
i do like how they were calling it Windows 7 Ultimate and shit like that though at one point. i was so holding out for Windows 7 Awesome Edition, but that never really materialized. 7 is pretty great, but it's not spectacular enough to ever have a Windows 7 Extreme Edition or anything like that.
And maybe you're right, maybe it will be windows 8.1, but i bet they brand it as "Windows Surface Pro Awesome Edition."

Because people expected improvement over previous editions and not Windows 7 with a hibernation hack and a tablet interface bolted on.

@previous (A)no 8.1 is not the next os. it's an update to windows 8 that is bigger than updates for windows normally are. microsoft only releases new os-es every 4 years or so
