No biggie. Your government has already been able to do this. Obama just wants to ease it in to the public eye for whatever reason.

If you aren't doing anything wrong, what should you care?

Uh yeah, since 2001 during the bush presidency OP. You just hearing about this now? I posted about this years ago on TC. Basically all tele companies have to keep records, logs, recordings, whatever, on a special backup server in a little locked room at all of the hubs or whatever. Every so often a truck shows up, takes the server and rack of terabyte HDs and replaces it with a new one and they abscond with the server full of records and whatnot.

So the idea being if the feds needed Info from archive they obtain a warrant for the relevant bits, and leave the rest untouched and under key.

So they are obtaining the records first, then a warrant to "open them" I guess you could say.

So yes, very much so, the feds are collecting your phone calls.

All of them.

Ever since Bush, I might re-add for OPs sake.

Relax. Data handed over is only Transactional language database. Details of who you called and cell tower used. Only a super computer could make sense out of it - a huge bank of Supercomputers at Ft Meade.

No text data or voice recorded.

Bush approved the Verizon data turn overs. Lots of years. Fingerprints on file ...Just high tech prints.

It's bullshit because there are countless examples throughout human history where people who've done nothing were exploited and victimized by those in power.

So your argument is that the US government is the same as the nazis?

I mentioned Bush BECAUSE He and no one else authorized that NSA order.

So Obama abuses it but it's not his fault cause he's black. That's your point?

I only no from the Grape Vine, that the system has caught and stopped at least one terrorist act. I have no clue wot Obama will say about Bush's NSA order.

And every USA Citizen that receives a phone call on cell or land line from any OTHER part of Planet Earth - That is recorded - Key word is Echelon. Put that in2 Google and ...well and.

Thing is - I used to work for years in that INFORMATION GATHERING BUSINESS Electronic technology to keep eyes on bad guys. Once upon a tyme and during my tyme NSA was prohibited from surveillance of USA Citizens on USA Soil.

Much has changed and IF and only IF your phone calls were being recorded on USA soil as a matter of general course wood I stand up and say no no no.

Of course if there is a reason to track ya down then yes yes yes but of course with a proper judges warrant.

It's not worth the lack of privacy.

I want America to fucking revolt.

We won't revolt for two reasons: we're too fucking comfortable and we're too fucking divided.

More than that. You're spread out, uneducated, and disorganized.

That was OWS' failure, not educating people. Its base at the end barely differed from its base at the start.

And it was too unorganized. No one decided what their focus was.
