I drive their kids 40.2 miles each and every day I'm there. They refuse to compensate me for transportation costs. Bringing my pay without required gas down to roughly $7.50 an hour. Oh yeah, because June payment dropped at the last minute to $900.00 a month. They said I should have figured on that because there were less days I was working. I did, I figured I'd be paid about $1, 500 dollars in July. Because now July is $6.06 an hour not including required gas. Usually they send their kids to primrose, 2 of them anyway which is $275 per week per kid. They are saving hundreds of dollars using me instead.
I don't know what I should do. Should I try to negotiate with them, and explain the situation in depth or should I just find another full time job, and drop this gig once it starts up, forcing them to find someone very short notice.
Oh, and babysitters get paid around $10 an hour here, and this lady tells me she's paying me more than average. Which is either stupid or a flat out lie. God damn it.

Honestly, I'd probably still be okay with this job if they were just up front and said that they were in a tough financial spot. I'd prefer it if they didn't lie to me, unprofessionally change the pay at the last minute, and act like this is a great deal for me. It's not, I'm basically doing them a favor. For what they're asking of me, 3kids to watch, feed, tutor in their classes, teach them something "creative", most people would require alot higher compensation. And I know they know that because I asked for a week off in July, and they said I couldonly have 2 days. So, even with 2 months notice (my vacation is at the tail end of July) they know they would be unable to secure a nanny at my rate.These people are ridiculous, and I'm getting increasingly fed up with playing nice with them.

No job no matter the pay is a bed of roses. Compromises compromises all the fucking tyme.
I own my own company with just a few part tyme employees but I end up as a tool for my clients. One AT&T I so despise but cannot no matter wot, get them off my back.
So YOU have to take this job as an equation. Do the math and if you can get a better job which pays more or is the same with less headaches then go for it.
BUT remember you will find things out about the new job that ain't so good. I never once have regretted changing jobs when I worked for a company. I do regret not accepting a gig as a legislative assistant to a US Congressman and also had an offer from a US Senator. Felt those gigs were to far off of my Technical path. They were but the other path would have been one hell of a road to be on.

Do you mean pay me a mediocre salary until I quit? That's really not too horrible. The kids are really cool, andthe schedule gives me free nights, and weekends. I'm sure they will understand they need to pay me more forJuly in order to stay consistent with the pay rate. If not, then, I'll work elsewhere. It's all good. Ultimately it's more about what they're not doing anyway.

so wait, you get paid more than 7.50 an hour? sounds like they are paying you minimum wage plus transportation costs and figured that into a higher rate. But you want even more? why should you get more?
you're an irresponsible babysitter, why are you telling us where their kids are going to school? do you want bert to go kidnap them?
you'd better hope he doesn't read this thread or those kids are as good as gone.
just go get a job at some place that'll most definitely never pay you more than minimum wage and only schedule you 20 hours a week or less and not give 2 fucks how much you spend to drive back and forth to work.
