The 1GHz Qualcomm™ lolsyntax Snapdragon processor is roughly comparable to a Pentium III running at 700MHz*, it also has 512MB RAM and 4GB of storage. I could, if I wanted, take it up to 32 or 64GB with a Micro SD card and match the HDD capacity of a 2001 desktop.
Also this phone cost only $50, with no contract. And my 3G speeds are better than broadband internet was in 2001. Words just cannot describe how amazing all of this is to me. The fact that I am more or less carrying around the computer I used in 2001 in my pocket just blows my mind.
*Comparing computational power of two different processing architectures is always a dicey proposition, but it's probably about that much in x86 terms.

I felt the same way too, back in like 2007-08 when smartphones were just starting to get popular and I had a Motorola dumbphone. You, too, will submit.

It's really awesome! If moore's law holds a matrioshka brain might actually be a viable possibility eventually. Also, fun fact, if it keeps up we'll have computers fast enough to simulate an entire human brain in 30-40 years.

If only I could share wots in brassboard configurations but I signed my name in blood on contracts - BUT can say future chips are loaded with ultrasound technology (Think gaming devices that sense body movement)
Hey one never no's but its just possible future phones will sense your body gurgles n suggest a near by rest room or a good restaurant near by cause your stomach rumbles end up inputting phone.
Oh and Multiple Terabyte RAM is child's play, but batteries up to task need developments completed... still in labs.

i wonder what they'll call smart phones in 10 years? i bet intelligent phones. and i bet they won't really be like phones so much anymore. probably more like virtual tulpas you talk to through a Google Glass type visual overlay on the real world that will act as a secretary and manage all your digital domain. also probably strip on command and virtual celebrity tulpa piracy will be a real problem.
