It seems every generation looks down on the music of the next. But, is it possible that music is really going downhill? When I try to listen to dubstep, I just hear a bunch of WUBWUBWUBWUBWUB shit.

It's bad, but I think every generation has had their take on the same generic stuff. There just might be a greater volume of bad music now.

I turned 25 a while back, so I guess I'm moving rapidly towards middle age.
I remember a time when no one (except like really rich people) had cell phones. Now these damn kids are always texting each other and playing with their "apps" (back in my day, they were called programs and came of floppy diskettes).

No. Listen to whatever you like. I happen to love Sinatra, which is waaay before my time.
The point is to not shut out the rest as "noise" and dismiss it on some pretext. I know a 71 year-old man who blasts Dr. Dre and tells me about how it is the best music ever. He's not senile. He's just much "younger" and wiser than I am.
Stay young and open to things you weren't necessarily raised to appreciate.

Popular music is just losing its organic touch. Everything is becoming computerized and thus more easy to recreate.
