good wine is way to expensive to be giving as a gift, but a good dog is
not only easy to find, but is inexpensive.
also they're not likely to get another one as a duplicate gift and have to exchange one,
so it's also very considerate to gift a dog. and even if they act like they don't like/want it
or tell you it's inappropriate, in 5 years they'll thank you for it. it'll be like you
gave them their first baby together. (unless it's a gay couple, then a cat may be more appropriate.)
