In case you've been offline for the past few weeks, it's called Food Ergo Love. I must say I'm really pleasantly surprised about how informative, well-written, and shtick-free it is. I genuinely enjoyed reading it, and I think it's good enough to go in a real food magazine. Though he couldn't resist reviewing his Saddleback bag, he only did it once, and, shockingly, did not even use the trademark symbol, despite Saddleback being an actual trademark.
If Matt had written like this about food, or indeed about anything, during his chan/forum career, he would have been warmly received and appreciated as a well-loved bon vivant. He comes off as intelligent, well read and cultured. Instead he spent 10 years pushing several stale and repugnant shticks, until the point where he was doxed and had photoshops of his dead relatives in obscene situations sent to his family.
It's just sad to think about what could have been. Even if he's turned a new leaf and really changed, the Caveatipse/Indy years will haunt him forever.

He seems a nice, agreeable person outside the chans, and he always has done.

I can't tell if he's trying to change or if he was always like this outside of the chans. Why do chans sometimes make people hateful and irritating?

In the few times I've spoken with him outside of here/TC/Laghouls/etc. he's seemed really nice. I think he just adopted a persona and ran with it for so long he found it hard to let go, idk.

When I make sausages, I become lost in another mindset. I ponder how I am taking the raw components of an animal, an animal that walked and breathed as I do, and transforming them through culinary techniques into something that is desirable to consume. This is an animal that I will put into my mouth. It will pass through my body, and I will extract from it the nutrients of life that once kept it alive. To me, this is philosophical, even spiritual.

Perhaps the spiritual thing was a bit over the top but otherwise well-written, in my opinion.

My guess is that he just saw the boards as a place to troll and have a laugh at, and nothing more.

Matt was fired and lost his job in China. He now has more time on his hands.

Yes. Again, it's about Chinese culture and cuisine, which is necessarily different from that of the West. Many people in the world eat insects. I myself have eaten chocolate covered ants and they were actually pretty good.

I think Matt let his "fake" online persona take over his real life. I mean, look at his life: it took him God knows how long to get a 2-year degree, then he couldn't hold a job so he had to move in with his mother.

He needs to tone down the arrogance in the blog. The pompousness utterly ruins
it.

15 years to learn French. Yet ends up teaching beginning English in a shit hole.
Says its an adventure but you should see how much he owes the IRS and those student loans. Returning to the USA is not really an option.

Because there is a bug with this site that crops up on my phone where it won't let me put in a space. Only option is to let it fuse two words or force a newline, except sometimes it won't even accept the carriage return.
