Topic: How long is a myle, exactly?

MetaPhone started this discussion 13 years ago #28,145

I want to get in shape and eventually run 10 myle everyday (not necessarily by the SEA SEA SEA, though). Is a myle equivalent to a mile or is it longer or shorter? This is a serious and urgent question. Thanks.

A myle is precisely 3.4 of your American "miles".

10 USA Miles is equal to 16093.4 Meters.

Wot is important is NOT the total Miles. Its really the necessary Aerobic exercise. Really lower in intensity then say a quick sprint. Sustained is the key so you can get 60-85% of maximum heart rate.

Anything more is not so good and anything less does not really help your heart. So if you really are serious? Look up the Krebs cycle. My info is many years old but it WAS my understanding that I needed a minimum of 20 mins of Aerobic exercise to achieve the minimum level for ME - Back then I did that with laps in the pool. Later I took up running and only increased the tyme based on the need to lose some belly flab. The extra miles these days allow me to eat more of the not so good stuff but not really junk food.

Miles per day is NOT the point. Aerobic IS.

I started the program to knock down my Cholesterol and along with diet changes I have achieved numbers that shock MD's who look at the numbers. Nor does current research prove that those numbers buy me anything OTHER then a more healthy life during my living days. I may not live more then 3.5 years longer then someone who is a couch potato but my daily health and ability to enjoy the years is far far more better then some couch potato.

AND AND AND Sustained Aerobic gives me that RUNNERS HIGH. I also get that after a couple of serious hours of Jitterbug/Cajun dancing. Been pulled over by cops a bunch cause they think my driving is more like drunk -

Passing Cops is not so smart n total blame is the Runners High.

Trust this Running or Swimming or even walking will get you in shape BUT BUT BUT A Serious warning. Jim" Fixx best-selling book, The Complete Book of Running.

Jim Fixx is dead DEAD DEAD dead and he was at the tyme the best known Runner. HowSomEver his diet for running jammed up his pipes and he died as a result. So getting in shape is Exercise/Diet and that means not Dieting but a Diet that is Heart Healthy. Them who live in the Mediterranean. Just look up the Mediterranean Diet. Great food lots of choices and total heart healthy.
