- The fucking drivers won't install
- The radiator screw holes are made of soft metal that strip with very little torque applied
- The CPU idled at 40C which is fucking unacceptable
I have lost $90 on this hard-to-install piece of shit and I am going to have to wait many days as it gets RMA'd. For now, I have to make do with a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo, and it idles at 25C.

This is good. Metal inside CPU will melt a little. New connections will enable faster transfer of data to outside ports.

The cooler has both software and firmware for control. It is dirt cheep so one cannot expect much from something made for under $5 bucks.

I received a defective model so you can't compare the two. I hope the new one I get in the mail will be functional. Also, the 3570K is well known as a hot-running CPU because Intel used a cheap, shitty thermal paste under the CPU lid, and the warranty would be void if I tried to replace it. T-junction max is 105C so that doesn't really matter.

I have friends who are into super overclocking for gaming. They pay no attention to warranty and borrow expensive surface gauges from work. They use polishing stuff from the local telescope store to lap the surface of the heat sink as well as the CPU. Makes a huge difference. One key thing if you ever decide to replace the thermal paste. DO NOT use more then a very thin film. To much is not GOOD.

Mine's the opposite. The processor top is invisible.
It doesn't seem to help for me when it's in such low quantities. I tried once and it went hot so i did my usual consistent grey-out on the processor and I got sweet temps again. Not to say that it's gobbed on in excess as it's still a very very thin layer so it works well.

If you mean beyond the contact area of the CPU and its interface? Then any outside goop really is an exercise in 5th or 6th order effects. Not worth typing about yet I did.
