I would explain more but it's a private matter... someone I am friends with has had their email inundated with spam and been signed up for newsletters and porn sites. He is currently involved in a custody dispute and recently won in a lawsuit, and that very day we believe either his exwife or her husband sent out threatening emails and signed people up for porn sites after losing in court.

So my question is thus: how to track? So far I've collected their IP address, home address, names, and know their ISP.

If I contact the webmasters of the sites he was signed up for, how hard would it be to find out the IP address used to sign up for them?

I know it was her husband, he's a goofus, and this is exactly the kind of thing he'd do to passively attack somone.

Anyhoo, would love to get techie on them.

also i will add that by "collected" i mean "the known information is."
and that by "if i contact the webmasters" i mean "if my friend were to contact them."

i guess my question is would he need to have the court get a subpoena to obtain the logs and whatnots, or could he find that out on his own?

if they're sending threatening emails maybe your friend could subpoena the isp to reveal the records, the isp would know when the sender of the emails went to a certain site and what they did there

you might not have luck otherwise because of data protection laws if you have those in usa
