It's much better for those of all social classes.When the upper class becomes bloated with competition, and too few positions, political, economic, spiritually, and otherwise for them, the upper class becomes restless. A dire side effect of upwards social mobility. Social instability in the name of equality.
There is no shame in remaining in the class your were born into, you simply grow used to it. That is, unless, there is potential you haven't fulfilled. Why upset your parents by remaining stagnant in the same class as they, when the classes above beckon for you and their grandchildren? Your friends might rise, while you remain, and that is an embarrassment as well, given that both of you grew up in similar environments.
There is pain in mixing the classes up. It's much harder to envy something you don't see, something that is removed from your perception altogether, in a gated community, in an area you don't visit. It's another thing altogether to be mixed up with the children of the well-to-do and very wealthy, and find shame in what you are lacking in. Something that wouldn't cross your mind at all if they were at private schools across town, while you were surrounded by those with the same history and future as you.
We won't solve dissatisfaction by mixing the classes, we will only exacerbate it. Liberals will fight for a system where all are forced under one roof, and do damage to all members of society. Nothing less than a complete disregard for the hedonic treadmill.
I'd rather my leaders be groomed, and cultivated from birth, deserving or not, so long as they do their duty, than live in a society of "equality", where a child who's focus for the first decades of their lives were irrelevant to the professions and tasks set out for the leadership.
The blue collar worker doesn't need higher order thinking. The erudite laborer will not serve society, or himself better than the simple laborer. Let them work, oblivious, and enjoy the simpler things: lust, food, community, drink, and the day-to-day joy of life. Education does not liberate these men, it enslaves them, and fills them with confusion and envy.

I completely agree. Educating the masses only burdens them, as they do not need to understand everything in life. They do not need to know how to write a 5-paragraph essay to do landscaping.

That book detailed a perfect world. The ideas are hard for most people to swallow from the objective view, but what does that tell you other than that most people would need to have their perception blunted, and serve as something less than the "A+" class? People were happy, and fulfilled in the novel, I don't see any real issues with it, despite the author's intentions, do you?
