Topic: FAO: Walter regarding obsolete pushrod engines.

How does it feel to know that failed, bankrupt Chrysler and GM are the last major automakers using this obsolete, 1940s era technology?

Upgrade to OHC thanks, thankx. Thanks.

You can't act superior when the Ford Mustang STILL uses leaf springs and live rear axles.

The mustang hasn't used leaf springs since '73.

The Corvette is made of fiberglass, uses a pushrod engine and leaf springs just like in 1953. Thanks.

It is about time they did it.

An LS-swapped Volvo will do just that.

There is a very good reason the corvette still uses leaf springs, they aren't the kind of leaf springs that were being used on the old cars from the 50's or so. Here is a nice article on why leafs are still being used.

That sort of defeats the purpose of a volvo.

Not really. The LS engine is bulletproof and will get you far without really changing the fuel economy if you get the right engine.

Are you expecting people to shoot at your engine?

Are you really expecting people to smoke lettuce?

No, which is why I would not advertise the lettuce as smokable.

I may go with either a 2013 Ford Mustang V6 engine or a 2013 BMW N55 engine. The Mustang engine is cheaper to maintain, easier to get and cheaper to buy but is less efficient, while the N55 engine is cheaper to run but costs more and is harder to buy and is more expensive to maintain.
